All sparkly and stuff.

I miss my camera. I miss my blog. I miss my time.

How do people work in the office all the time and have a life? I guess I have been spoiled with working from home for a handful of years. Having to be in the office the last 6 weeks has really cramped my style. And just when I thought I did my time, and thinking me and my comfy clothes would become partners again, I got another couple of weeks thrown at me. Its kinda like getting the “Get out of Jail Free” card in Monopoly only to get it swiped away from you. As I sigh, I know I can do this, I just don’t want to. All you office workers, I admire you. Hope one day I don’t have to grow up and get a real job.

Last weekend, the skies above parted, and I took it in. The sunshine that is so sparse this time of year will never go unnoticed by me.

Photobucket

It was no better time then to go find our perfect tree. We pulled up to the corner lot and walked the mazes throughout the many trees.

Photobucket

Year after year we always end up back to the first tree we laid our eyes on.
Kinda like love at first sight.

Photobucket

The first part is to always untangle those lights.

Photobucket

The end result is pure beauty. It's simple and just the way we like it.
There is nothing like a fresh cut, Oregon grown Christmas tree.

Photobucket

Weekends seem so much shorter now, so much to cram into them. But today is all about Christmas. I’m covered in sparkly glitter from my nose all the way down to my toes. I look like maybe I spent a little too much time at a strip club, but in fact I have been spending my time inscribing messages onto Christmas cards. Christmas cards seem so much like a past time anymore, but there is no better way to send that lifelong friend or far away family member a simple thought for the holiday.
It’s all about the little things in life, right?

Photobucket

In fact, Christmas is my favorite time of year. So many memories from all the years as a child, with traditions, that still live in my heart today. The visiting with relatives that live too far away, but to only see a few times a year. Families would come together as if no time had passed at all, it’s all those lovely memories that stay with you a lifetime. To me Christmas is a magical spirit that lives within my heart; it’s a joy that only comes once a year. It’s the pure happiness on the children’s face that is priceless, the many hours making a perfect mess baking up dozen after dozen of cookies, all those late hours making sure the house and tree are perfectly decorated to loading up on hot chocolate and spending a few nights to just drive through neighborhoods to see how others light up their homes. It’s the few minutes smiling over the Christmas card you get in the mail, to spending those extra minutes or hours making sure that the gift is wrapped up just how you want it. But lastly it’s all about spending those couple of extra days off with the ones you love, from spending time with family and friends who you hold close in your heart.

Photobucket

Wrapping gifts is kinda like therapy to me. I collect wrapping paper, gifts bags and spools and spools of ribbon. I have a closet full of this stuff. And Birthdays come and go where I can spend a few minutes to beautify the gift just the way I want, but this time of year, I get many of many of hours in. Nothing excites me more. I could spend a whole day doing this, and of course, only with all my favorite Christmas cd’s playing in the background. I get lost in this.
Me and my wrapping paper, we have our thing.

And one day I want a wall of ribbon only like a Michael's store can do ...

Photobucket

but for now I will settle for this. My most favorite gift ever was from my husband …. this wrapping paper station, so perfect for me. He gets me, how lucky am I?

Photobucket

And being crafty is fun too. I dont get enough time to play and be creative,
but I dusted off the ole Cricut machine and got started on homemade gift tags
this year.

Photobucket

And as my days have been stretched out longer then I wanted these past several weeks, it’s all about the small things that have kept me going.

♥ A simple note written on the dry erase board by the husband, that catches my eye as I’m rushing out the door in the morning.

Photobucket

♥ To a unexpected card in the mail, that makes you stop and be thankful for all the feel good moments that it brings.

Photobucket

♥ A early Christmas gift just for no reason. And speaking of sparkly stuff,
the sister brought me this silvery, shiny wonderful new Christmas ornament.
And a Eiffel Tower, none the less. My Fav.

Photobucket

♥ And for socks that just let us be happy. A dear friend shared this great part of life with me, and it’s so simply true, find some socks that just make you happy, and just be. And to you my dear friend, and you know who you are, your matching socks are on their way to you.

Photobucket

I will now take my sparkly self on to new tasks for the day .. I hope that you enjoy these last days before the wonderful day that brings joy and love to so many arrives upon us. Take it in, it only comes once a year.
Happy Holidays.

Thankfulness

Life has been busy. Oh so busy. Haven't had time for much this last month. My employer has me overworked, so today I'm taking in the day. A paid day off that I am ever so thankful for. A day to do whatever I choose.

I'm thankful for the ability to kick my feet up on the cherry red table. I have the remote in one hand, the computer is not too far away, the fire is keeping my polka doted feet warm. And the phones are right next to me.

And there is no better way to start the day then to get a phone call from my dear friend Zoe who is only a ocean away. My dream trip to France is less then a year away, and I can hardly wait. I am thankful for the many conversations we have had in the past and the ones that are yet to come, where we will plan those two weeks.

I'm not about to embark on the whole Black Friday fiasco,
I choose to be here. This is my happy place.
This is how every day off should start.

Photobucket

And don't forget the cup of Hot Chocolate. Or two ;)
With extra whip cream of course.

Photobucket

Yesterday was a day of cooking and cooking and did I mention, cooking?
It was one of those days where it was easy to have your mind in 500
places at once. You know .. the times when the potatoes are about to
boil over, the phone rings, the bacon is almost burnt, and the microwave
is beeping and you still need to pull together the ingredients to start
the meringue. The trusty cook book has saved me time after time.
Thank you Mr. Cookbook.

Photobucket

I am so, so, so thankful for my kitchen aid mixer.
Long gone are those days standing over the mixing bowl
for minutes on end, hearing those beaters beat the hell out
of the glass bowl over and over, while you can only think of
everything else you should be doing.

How this thing has made my life so much easier.

Photobucket

And it never disappoints.
I ordered up some fluffy white meringue and
it delivered well.

Photobucket

and VoilĂ !
Lemon Meringue Pie.

Photobucket

They piled in full of smiles, all 17 of them.
Their stomachs were empty and they were ready.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Thinking there was enough food for an Army, but indeed
our fam soaked most of it up.

Photobucket

and food made with love of course.

Photobucket

Oh, and there was celebrations.
We sang, and when I say we sing, we really do.
I can't really explain it, its one of those
moments you would really just have to be here to
understand. Happy Birthday Dad.

Photobucket

Of Course, Mr Happiness was here.
He never disappoints. It's a given
that the first two things he asks me for
is Oatmeal cookies and toys! He was slightly
confused when I moved them on him, but confused
for long he was not. He was so thrilled to find
his Power Ranger costume that he ripped his clothes
off and entertained us all. And a Mickey Power Ranger
none the less! This lil' guy has stole my heart.

Photobucket

Thanksgiving quickly flew by, but I soaked it up.
The foods, the smells, the fam. So quickly over.

I'm not too sad, cause now Its all about Christmas.
And we celebrate big. Today is all about dusting off
the Christmas CD's and pulling out the decorations.
The countdown is on.

Trick. or .Treat

Smell my feet, give me something
good to eat.
If you don't, I don't care,
I'll pull down your underwear.

Year after year, the kid in me wants to pass
on this great little sayin' to all the kids.
It's only in good fun right?

Another Halloween full of fun.

Photobucket

Yes,the husband dresses up.
He pulls on this mask and tries to scare me.

Photobucket

Don't tell him, but he doesn't scare me.
Although, when he pulls his
truck into the drive and sits and waits for
all the trick - or - treaters, he indeed
does scare them.

Of course he does have the whole set up with the
scary sounds CD playing, the fog machine
brewing and the dancing skulls.

Photobucket

The Little's showed up all dressed up.

Photobucket

Photobucket

and I had a table of sugar goodness waiting for their arrival.

Photobucket

Gage is growing up, and didn't want to go
trick or treating this year, although
he joined in the fun of handing out
candy and playing tricks himself.

Photobucket

and this little, baby Alyssa, didn't dress up,
although still very photo worthy. And she's
clenching that candy bar, indeed she knows
what Halloween is all about.

Photobucket

A little late I am in announcing the winner ..
but indeed the winner of the $20 CSN gift
certificate goes to ...

Photobucket

Sara Louise from Sara in Le Petit Village.
I've emailed your code, enjoy!

And to another week, have a good one.

Don't Make Me Go ...

So I guess I have been a little spoiled.
My said employer offers the chosen employees
to work from home. What a great opportunity right?
Yes, I agree. I triple love. I've been a chosen one
for a couple years now, and it's so nice to just wake up
and start your day, and you can even stay in your PJ's
all day if you choose.

No, I've never done such a thing.
You can never prove anything anyway.

When it's time for my breaks or lunch, it's so nice
to hop into the kitchen to make lunch. It's nice to
go make some cocoa on a cold blustery day like today.
It's nice to check facebook, catch up on my
favorite blogs, and watch some TV online. And on the
warmer summer days, I can go sit on my patio
and share the breaks with Mr. Sunshine.

I have my own little home office, where it's just for me
and my little work life. Its cozy, it's bigger then a
cubicle and I don't have to give a somewhat fake smile
to all the passing co workers.

I prefer to work here.

Photobucket

Next week, I have to go back. For this thing called training.
I think I can learn on my own, but they disagree.
I will go from my homey home office to a COZY room
filled with 12 work stations and 13 people for 32 really
long days. I hear this room does not have good air
circulation. Really?

Me likey this better.

Photobucket

I suppose there's some sort of lesson in this, that perhaps
I will appreciate it a little more when I get back home.

P.S. For friends and family: your kinda screwed too cause
you can't just call me whenever you want and expect me
to pick up. Happy Days everyone.

I can do this. I really can. I'll be back in
my lil' space just in time for the New Year!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a sweeter note ... Halloween is around the corner
and I got to fill a shopping cart full of candy.
I started off with buying 10 bags and after this happened,
I had to go get more.
Photobucket
Quit giving me that look, No I didn't eat it all.
They like shrunk the bags or something cause you get
maybe 10 pieces now if your lucky.
Photobucket
We get a lot of kids, really we do.
This is what 20 bags of candy will give you,
in case you wondering.
Photobucket
OK, well maybe not a full 20 bags, I did have to try just one.
Those new Butterfinger Snackerz things are good. Just sayin.
Fall Weekends and a Giveaway!
The skies have a widening blanket of clouds. At one moment they look all white fluffy marshmallow like and in a quick minute they can turn all grumpy. They darken and form mean like faces where I know at any minute they will start spewing water on my head. I prefer the fluffy marshmallow type.
Photobucket
The temperatures are changing and I struggle with cuddling up in bed with
lots of blankets to having that one leg hang out, my own way of trying
to hold on to summer where blankets are just not needed.
Photobucket
There was no better way to kick off this weekend, then a stop by
Starbucks. Their Caramel Apple Cider is ummm to die for.
And I wanted no other companion with me as I perused the local
pumpkin patch.
Photobucket
With the Starbucks cup to warm thy hands, I took in the beauty.
Vibrant orange pumpkins galore.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Such creativity and they put quite a few ideas in my head.
I will put my pumpkin carving skills to test later on in the
week.
I have to say though .. this Mickey one made my heart smile just a bit.
A Mickey fan I will always be. A part of childhood I will never let go of.
Photobucket
Photobucket
And these type of weekends are ones where we settle in.
We take in the the crisp days and cool nights. We curl up
around the dancing flames of the yummy flavored candles.
We settle in, and take in a nice fire. And we cook ...
From chili simmering all day to baking cupcakes.
ten.ten.ten ... and they wed.
Photobucket
Photobucket
The day was beautiful.
We nestled into a park tucked
out in the country.
The lush green trees, and the crunchy colorful leaves ..
made for a beautiful setting.
I was there to catch a glimpse of the brother
before he cleaned up ...
Photobucket
and he cleans up well, I might add.
Mike and his best man Andrew.
