We are embracing these 3 days off .. and I am learning that I love to sleep. I have slept in these last 3 days longer then I have in years, and today I was surprised to see the time of 10:30 after I stumbled out of bed. Normally I would feel guilty, and stress about all the things that are on that to-do list, but not this time. We are doing what we want, relaxing most, but also putting those final touches on our travel trailer makeover. We decided to take a perfectly fine decorated trailer, and redecorate it to a 50’s diner theme. At this point, we are ready for this project to be over, we had no idea how much it entailed. It will be cute at the end of it though.
Contests .. oh how a contest excites me. If you know me well, then you will already know that my middle school and high school days were filled with many radio call in’s trying to win that prize. And 9 out of 10 times I won, it even got the the point where I was told I need to give others a shot, and to please stop calling for a few weeks. We all benefited from the contest winnings, many free movie tickets, and meals were won .. but I think the best contest I won was those concert tickets to the Rolling Stones with Guns n Roses. I was such a nice sister and gave them to my brother Steve for his birthday and along with my Dad they went to see the show at the Los Angeles Coliseum. If you grew up in my house and heard all that blaring hard metal through the walls of his room, then it was just a given that he would enjoy the show more then me. Your welcome Steve. So, much to my surprise when I won more free swag from a radio show a few weeks ago .. I start my mornings listening to Rosie O'Donnell's radio show on Sirius and I called in and got to talk to her, and after she made fun of me for talking so quietly, she sent me a audio book and a cake from a bakery in New York City. Who knew that cakes could be shipped from New York City all the way to Oregon and overnight? The cake came from Bake Me A Wish, and it was so good! You know that yummy piece of cake you get at a wedding, it taste just like that!
Kev will attest to the yumminess ..
We had a fun party planned for the kids last Friday. They had no idea why they were coming over, but they were all surprised when they got here. Their faces were priceless when they walked in. I was chosen to be a party host from House Party and this time it was for a McDonald’s McNuggets and Shrek Forever After party. I was sent a huge box of swag, including a gift card to McDonald’s, a Shrek movie, and more. I had the house decorated all Shrek when they arrived, place settings with the Shrek party ware, boxes full of Happy Meal toys for each kid, and Chicken Nuggets and fries galore, so they could eat as much as they wanted. I even turned the 7-Up green by adding a splash of food coloring, and threw in some marshmallows which they all thought was super cool. I think I won the “Best Auntie” award that day. It was also a great to chance to celebrate Casey’s 4th birthday with him, since I was away for his birthday. We used the free cake from Rosie, and I added some colorful sprinkles to it, and it was a hit!
And we had the freeze dance game to play, so prizes could be won.
And I had them go out and jump .. hoping to get some sugar to release but instead I got these great shots.
Fun was had by all, it was a good time.
Gage wanted to pose for these .. he's growing up.
Happy Birthday Casey.
As we approach this new week, and a new month its time to get my butt back into gear. No more vacation mode for me. Time to get back to the working out and healthy eating every day. We can do it. I’m reading this book, and at this point I’m kinda afraid to put anything into my mouth, so guess that will do the trick.
I’m working on a new post on how to coupon. People come over and look at my stock piled pantry and are surprised on how I get so many things on the cheap or in many cases for free, so watch for that. As much as I would love to teach everyone that asks how it works, I just don't have the time, so I’m hoping this post will help you out.
Happy Memorial Day,
