Summer Weekends

We’re living and having fun, and simply just running out of time. Twenty four hours in a day and it just seems like each hour passes faster than the one before. We had a great weekend.

We were lucky to see Jewel at the Britt. The Britt is an outdoor venue that seats just shy of 6000 people. You can choose lawn seating or the reserved seating, and you are welcome to bring your own picnic basket, bottle of wine or drink of choice, and just be while enjoying the show. The Britt is located in the quaint little town of Jacksonville, just about 15 minutes away. It’s just kinda wonderful. You can sit under the stars and watch your artist of choice. Well, this is our 3rd visit over the years and each time to see Jewel. Her talent is so raw, honest and real. Just Jewel and her guitar under the stars, perfection it was. With all her beautifully written songs, it was inspiring. If you’re not a Jewel fan, I can’t help but recommend. If you would like to hear the show I saw, send me an email and I can send you a copy of it via email. It was a great night, and it’s still making me smile today. And did I mention, we were in the 5th row!

The next morning, we woke early to drive a beautiful route to Klamath Falls. So pretty and green.

Gage was playing in his All Star tournament and I was happy to be able to catch his last game.

Got this just as he was catching the ball.

Jake was running around -

and you better watch it, or you may get shot with water!

Mr Happiness always makes us smile.

Photobucket

So damn cute.

And we were right next to the Base, so we had a nice air show.

Kev and I were happy to see a BNSF train come by. Kevin’s Dad worked for the BNSF railroad for 20+ years. I think it was Kevin's Dads way of saying hi as it passed by. I think he planned it all the way from the heavens.

I was happy to be able to have Gage come over for a sleepover. He’s always busy between baseball and karate so I was able to book him at my place for a night in between the two. It was so nice to have him over, because he’s never had a sleepover at Auntie Nanu’s. We had a great time! We played Family Feud, had a AWESOME tennis match, I spoiled him with however much food he wanted, frozen treats at Sonic, free realm of the hot tub and he practically begged to get on that treadmill. (Wish I was begging for it) It was great to spend time with him. It was nice to listen to him play some songs on Uncle Kevin’s guitar too. We had some great talks about him starting his own business, and teaching guitar lessons. (This was all his idea) He even mentioned maybe Uncle Kevin could build him a shed or shack or something, so his teaching time would be uninterrupted. (Priceless) He asked if I knew how to place an ad in the paper too. I think we have one fine businessman in the family! When asking him how much he wanted to charge for these so called lessons, his reply was “I would not want to charge anything; I just want to help kids live their dream.” So, OK maybe not a businessman but rather a pretty great kid with a big huge heart.

We turned the heat off to the spa, and he had his own personal pool.

And of course, we had to break out the popcorn machine.

We looked at pictures too, and as we came across the Shrek Party we had, he said he will never forget that. Who knew a little Shrek party would make such memories? I’m lucky to get to spend time with these kids. My whole goal when having them over is to give them a little day or two filled with fun, but in turn little do they know, they are giving me so much more. Many more parties and time at Auntie Nanu’s to come!

Big news at our place last weekend! You know, I grew up with brothers so the dirty work also known as lawn mowing, was so not my department. Oh sure, I did my fair share of cleaning, dishes, etc but I never had to mow a lawn. Because you know that involved getting dirty, and being close to bugs and stuff. Well, now I got that husband and again it’s so not my department, but secretly I have been wanting to give it a shot. Even had it on my bucket list. Much to my husband’s surprise I took that trusty red mower out of his hands, and I tackled the back yard. So what if my lines were not straight, as my husband was sure to let me know, but I do know I can now cross that off my list! It was kinda fun, until the bag got full and heavy. Thank goodness he was there to empty it for me. I might even do it again, but ssshhhh don’t tell anyone.

And Isn't this what weekends are all about? Next weekend I get a whole 3 days off to celebrate Independence Day. How lucky we are to live in the good ole USA. Celebrate Big!

blah, blah, blah

A bland kinda week it was. I think Spring just passed us on up, cause we went from lots of rain, to a few nice sunny days in the low 80’s to a humid heat in the 90’s. Don’t get me wrong, I love that bright ball in the sky, but not when it’s so humid. I worked, worked and played some tennis this week. Oh and those pesky bills are paid, laundry’s done, groceries bought, house is gettin’ clean, so to say the least not much play went on this week.

Kevin and I celebrated our anniversary last weekend. A whole 9 years married. Time flies because it sure doesn’t seem that long. Marriage is hard work, and something that constantly needs attention, but we have managed. It hasn’t always been marital bliss but so I’m proud of us for where we are today, so very proud. I’m happy to say I ♥ him more today than the day I married him. Happy Anniversary my Love.

I guess I have been a bit of a movie theatre snob. I will admit I like the finer things in life, so it’s always been a no brainer to go the “newer” movie theatre. The interior is a bit updated; the seats are a bit plusher, and even on an incline. We wanted to catch a movie last Friday night, which we almost never get to do, and the “newer” theatre had nothing good. So I dared to look at the showings at the nearby theatre in another city. I have never been and was kinda afraid, but the lower prices were appealing. We opted to go there to see Date Night. A very good movie with lots of laughs. Oh and the theatre, it was perfect. It is older but clean indeed. No inclined seats but very quaint and so reminded me of going to the movies as a child. Sometimes things just need no fixin, as much as we like the “newer” theatre, I think we found our new place. And a movie with popcorn & drinks for less than $20, I’m sold. (Writing this reminds me of the time I went with my childhood bestie Jenny to see 3 Men and a Baby 3 times .. in less than 2 weeks? What were we thinking??)

I’m loving every time I get home and pull into the drive, I am greeted by my vibrant orange lilies.

Photobucket

Oh and my favorite flower … daisies. So beautiful but yet simple. Thanks to the husband for the flowers.

and my notebooks .. My sister found my polka dot notebooks I was on the lookout for. Thanks Lindsay!

Any plans for the weekend? We are going to the Britt Festival to see Jewel on Saturday night. No photos allowed at the show, so I will let you look at my tickets ;)

As I was lockin up the compound tonight, and closing windows up, I was almost blinded by the moon that was out. So full and bright. Yes, I did go get in my car and drove out of the neighborhood to catch this photo. Yes, I was in my jammies, but I don’t think anyone saw me. Enjoy. (Ok, its really not a compound.)

Happy weekend to you ♥♥♥

happy times.

Ahhhh .. Friday at last. This week has seemed to drag on and on, but I think its because my schedule is not as busy. I miss spending afternoons in the shining sun at the ballpark, but oh the things that are getting accomplished. My house is staying clean, I'm cooking more, and my husband is not complaining. I’ve managed to work out a few times this week, get a haircut, and the laundry is all done and actually put away. Usually it just sits in the basket for a few days before it gets put away and then by that time its almost time to do laundry again, so its just better to leave it there until the next batch is done. Kinda makes sense right?

The weather has been lovely, with abundant sunshine and warmth too. One of the perks with being able to work from home is sneaking out to the patio during my breaks to soak in the sun. This keeps me going throughout the day, cause if you know me, then you already know that sunshine is what moves me in life.

And speaking of work, I need to post a disclaimer here. I work for a company (which will remain nameless) that has some strict guidelines for their employees who like to blog. So it's been brought to my attention that I cannot say anything inappropriate, nor can I be abusive, hateful or threatening in any manner cause this could reflect badly on my unnamed company. I do not want to break any rules here, cause they so kindly deposit money into my bank account a couple times a month. So just to follow the guidelines outlined in my employee handbook, I will say that the postings on this site are my own and do not represent the position or opinion of any other person or business. Now that I've gotten that out of the way .. there is this one person I work with I would love to talk badly about and boy do I have stories to share... but since Jeana reads this blog, I wont elaborate. ::: giggle :::

We are fans of the good ole Denny’s. We kinda love their pancakes, they always seem so fluffy and full of yumminess. On a recent road-trip we stopped by the first one we located on the GPS (we pronounce it gyps), and we had yummy pancakes indeed. Although we also came out with a prize....

Photobucket

You know those glass machines with claw like mechanisms full of stuffed animals, well I always challenge the husband to win me one after I choose the one I want. Sometimes its a waste of $7 for trying to win that dollar store stuffed animal, but not this time. I picked out the colorful bear and with his first shot and only 50 cents later, we have ourselves the colorful bear. booyah. Oh yes, I strapped him in and he was along for the ride. Don't you judge me.

Photobucket

On our road trip, I got some pretty shots of the Oregon scenery. Guess we need that 9 months of rain to green up everything?

Photobucket

Photobucket

Indeed, it's beautiful .. but do we really need so much rain to make this happen?

Photobucket

Happy Birthday to my husband! Another year older and wiser of course.

Photobucket

We celebrated in style by heading over to the sports bar with the fam.
The husband, Mikey & Mae. (Lindsay & the Uncle in the background)

Steve & Mom.

Photobucket

Mom & Dad.

Photobucket

Lindsay had a game of pool going on.

Photobucket

Kev was getting his drink on.

Photobucket

Video poker anyone? Dad & the Uncle jumped in on that. We still have not won the million. I say we cause if they win, its really ours not theirs. Right?!?!

Photobucket

You know, I'm not a regular sports bar kinda gal, so the future sister in law, Mae was showing me how it's done. Guess you don't need a glass, just add a straw to that pitcher of Coors Light. Thanks for the tip! :)

Photobucket

We learned that Mikey likes to sing Paula Abdul around the house, I'm thinking he got a little embarrassed that we all know that now. Got any more secrets to share Mae?

Photobucket

The father & sister.

Good times we had. Happy Birthday my husband!

Hope you all have a great weekend planned with sunshine, Fathers Day celebrations & more. We are sooo finishing the trailer this weekend, and tonight we are going out to celebrate the anniversay. Happy times.

Baseball

Bats have been swung, the ball has been thrown around, determination has been shown .. and to this is another great season of baseball!

Baseball has come and go for the year .. except for Gage making ALL STARS! He will continue on for another 3 weeks. Good job buddy .. I’m so proud of you.

The season ended with a bang, and there was a game every day last week, and I was able to make all of them and capture these moments. From a home run to all 3 boys pitching in their last games .. it was a good end to the season.

They Came, They Saw, They Conquered.

Photobucket

Gage did his bout of pitching.

Photobucket

Then it was his time to smack the ball .. and boy did he. That ball made one loud ping against the metal bat.
Photobucket

and this is what glory a home run brings.
Photobucket

Photobucket

It was Jake’s turn to pitch.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

and strikes were being thrown, and this is what excitement looks like when you get the last strikeout of the season!
Photobucket

Bryan started off with a great hit.
Photobucket

Then it was his turn to pitch.
Photobucket

He was throwing some great strikes too.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Casey watches in awe of his brothers, and cheers them on, and he knows next year will be his year to throw that ball around and get dirty.
Photobucket

My job is finished for the year ..
Photobucket

Baseball = happiness with these kids, and its such a great feeling watching them year after year. Their progress from year to year, is just awesome. It must be in their blood. I just think the littles are growing up way too fast.

Now my evenings are free, and there's much sunshine out there to be had ..
Summer is almost here .. what are your plans?
