This & That

Been so busy, and as a result my creative juices didn't seem to be a flowin’ much this past month. Hence the reason for very few blog posts in September, so I had to try and squeeze one more in. And what started as a simple blog post, turned into a complete blog overhaul. New pages overhead too ;)

To say the last couple of months have been crazy would be an understatement. The whole unemployment issue hit a little close to home. Husband’s job was lost, but new one found. Feeling blessed that indeed a new one was found, so many others are not as fortunate. Makes you really realize what’s really important.

With the job loss, indeed many good things came from it. He used to work the night shift, so having him home now is great. No more quick conversations in passing, we can now have a real grown up conversation, IMAGINE!

And a few perks for me …

I can make the bed now cause he’s not sleeping in it all day …
And did I mention, he built this bed. Lucky I am.

I no longer have to rush to make dinner so he can rush off to work, so having dinner past 5:00 is something I am loving. So much more pleasure in cooking when you’re not on a time limit. And tonight, it's going to look a little like this.

Things have certainly changed around here, and with or without a job, life is happier, life is all good.

I have this plate hanging in my bathroom, and its a nice
reminder each morning, to remember simple is better.

It’s in their blood. When the option was presented of another six weeks of baseball, Jake and Bryan jumped at the chance. Welcome to Fall Ball.

Gage and Jake started new schools this year, and shy they are not. They jumped in with both feet and ran with it. They ran for office. Gage for Treasurer and Jake for Ice Cream Sales. Oh and we hooked them up. A couple late nights where the family piled in and crafting overtook my dining room. Scissors were a cuttin’, stickers were being created, and posters designed.

And ice cream breaks were mandatory.

I heard their speeches were wonderful, and I would have been proud. Positions were not won in the end of it all, but trying and doing is already winning. Proud of you Gage and Jake. And when one of you become President and make the millions, remember your dear ole Auntie who helped you out!

Mr Happiness is just that, Mr Happiness.
I had a afternoon free, so I lugged him along to the park with me. He wasn’t very photogenic this time around, and kept telling me “No More Pictures”, but I did manage to capture a few. Enjoy.

My hobby and love of telling stories through my lens is now getting me some clients. I never thought this would happen so soon, but it’s fun to branch out and capture the great moments in other families beside my own. Had a shoot last week in Ashland with the lovely King-Rask family, and here's a preview.

Fall is here, I know this cause the leaves are changing. The heat is still here though, with many of many blue skies. The brisk mornings have me curled up with the blanket and I'm in shorts and a tank top by the afternoon. I dont think summer is ready to say good bye, and I’m ok with that. Stick around all you want, you won’t hear me complaining. I {heart} the blue skies.

Photobucket

And I will leave you with one last picture, hopefully to inspire you a little.
Go in search of that simple thing, that makes you happy, and enjoy.
Thanks Kate.

Switched.

Almost overnight, fall reached Oregon.
It was almost like a switch flipped; summer off, fall on.
As much as I love the abundant sunshine with
warm sultry days, this switch is just well ... pure love.

The way the colorful leaves swirl in the wind, the
fall scented candles flowing throughout the house. The
comfort foods that just taste a bit better when its
cooler out. This year I'm trying to embrace the season
change, as we say goodbye to Summer.

A coffee person I am not, but this is the most
perfect way to start your day.

And sprinkles make it all the better.

Photobucket

And with the switch, comes Oregon's outpouring of love for us.

And when I awoke this morning, I dragged the husband to a nearby
park so we could take in the beauty of this change. And even
when the rain drops fell on my head to make it simply a bad
hair day, I embraced it and just snapped away, and this is what
I call .. love.

And this is the guy ... who I just love.
He lets me be me, and comes along for the journey.

Back to the whole comfort food thing ..
You can take a little of this:

and make this. Guaranteed to make a husband happy is Captain Crunch Chicken.

Photobucket

and don't forget the home made cookies. The ending to a perfect day.

Photobucket

And well, because I am I along with a side of silliness.
I snapped a few of my own photos. Welcome to my world.

And I couldn't let a blog post go by without
acknowledging 9/11. It started as a regular morning
but as I went about my day and noticed this flag
at half staff, it was a jolting reminder
as to what exactly this day is all about.
We will never forget.

until next time, enjoy the beauty.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Katie is about to begin kindergarten,
and I've been wanting to spend some good
quality time with her. I've been wanting
to snap lots and lots of photos to document
this special time in her life.

Her endless days watching her brothers
come and go from school will be no more,
she will now be tagging along too. The little
girl we once knew is now growing up, and
is little no more.

We spent hours of time going through oodles
and oodles of clothes. We gathered shoes, jewelry,
and sunglasses too. We packed it all up and headed
up to the river with the camera in tow.

We went through many outfit changes, and she became
quite the model, needing no direction from moi.
This was so much fun, and indeed validates that Yes -
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

In her own Punky Brewster style, she wanted to wear one shoe of each color.
so unique, i triple love.

And you would think after all those shots, and many outfit
changes the little Diva would be tired, but she wanted more.

And when you have four brothers, you gotta show your tough.
And this gives that little message.

Photobucket

I think she really means it.

Much laughter was had, memories were made.
As the day came to an end, this little princess
was tired. So precious.

Go ahead Kate - grow up, be tough, and carry your own unique style.
You can go ahead and grow up all you want, but you will always be little to us.

... enjoying all these captured moments.
